Television screens and computer monitors use Cathode Ray Tubes (CRTs) which contain lead that is hazardous.

Disposal options

In Seattle and King County, televisions cannot be disposed of in the garbage, at a transfer station or a household hazardous waste facility. Visit www.metrokc.gov/dnrp/swd/electronics/index.asp for businesses that recycle televisions in your area.

A number of King County Suburban Cities collect televisions and computers for a fee at their spring and/or fall recycling events.
