King County Healthcare Coalition
Healthcare Coalition Toolkit

Strengthening Emergency Response through a Healthcare Coalition Toolkit is now available at www.kingcountyhcc.com

The web-based toolkit can be used by local health departments to support the development of a healthcare coalition, or as a topic-specific reference to complement existing health response planning in a local health jurisdiction.

The following topics are covered in the toolkit:

1. Public Health Perspective - describes the importance of Public Health's involvement in coordinating healthcare response and highlights essential reminders about key public health laws and policies.

2. Assessment and Engagement - helps define the key elements and organizations that need to be identified, considered and consulted when undertaking a Healthcare Coalition planning process.

3. Planning and Preparing - designed to provide suggestions on how to approach the planning process as well as examples of key planning elements including planning assumptions, priorities, purpose and objectives.

4. Organization and Structure - provides a detailed look at how the King County Healthcare Coalition Preparedness Structure evolved and provides a framework for developing a structure.

5. Implementation - detailed look at the fundamental working content of a Healthcare Coalition that can be applied topically to almost any jurisdiction.

6. Sustainability - looks at questions surrounding the next steps for developing a lasting Coalition structure
