KING COUNTY, WA - Are you a King County resident living with HIV/AIDS? Then Seattle's HIV/AIDS Planning Council would like you to complete a survey on the services used, needed and highly valued by King County residents with HIV/AIDS.
To receive a survey, persons can visit or call:
- King County HIV/AIDS service organizations
- HIV/AIDS medical clinics
- most private HIV/AIDS medical providers
- the Planning Council, (206) 296-4527
All King County residents who are living with HIV/AIDS are eligible to complete the survey, which is completely anonymous, pre-stamped, and available in English and Spanish.
"This survey is a great way for consumers living with HIV/AIDS to make their voices heard about services that are important to them," said Jim Jorgenson, coordinator of the HIV/AIDS Planning Council. "We want to hear from as many people as possible, of all backgrounds and from all communities."
Information gathered from the surveys will guide the Planning Council in making decisions on how to allocate over $5 million in annual federal funds. During 2000, Planning Council funds have supported the delivery of a wide range of medical and social services by 25 agencies throughout King County.
Seattle's HIV/AIDS Planning Council, a volunteer body composed of persons living with HIV/AIDS, providers of HIV/AIDS care and prevention services, and public health experts, conducts this survey every two years. Additionally, the council is conducting a similar survey among HIV/AIDS care service providers. "In 1999, we received over 500 completed surveys from people living with HIV/AIDS, and we're hoping to exceed that number this year," said Jorgenson.
