Puget Sound Blood Center receiving donations from area residents
Tuesday, September 11, 2001

KING COUNTY, WA - In the aftermath of the events today on the East Coast, the Puget Sound Blood Center is preparing to ship blood supplies to New York City. Donation centers in New York are functioning and no supplies have yet been requested, but a need for additional blood supplies might arise.

Puget Sound Blood Center is requesting donations from area residents. Puget Sound Blood Center suggests that you call before coming to a donation center or mobile unit, as these donation sites are filling to capacity. The number is 1-800-398-7888. You may make an appointment at the Blood Center's web site: http://www.psbc.org

It is not necessary to donate blood today, as it is likely that blood supplies will continue to be needed over the next several weeks.
