Briefing: Groundwater Protection Program 2004 Proviso Report
Sarah Ogier, King County Groundwater Protection Program Manager, will discuss the Groundwater Protection Program 2004 Proviso Report, which recommends priority management services for groundwater protection in the county and funding strategies to support these services.

Briefing: Institute of Medicine/Core Indicators
Dr. David Solet, from Public Health’s Epidemiology, Planning, & Evaluation section will present the status of core indicators. The Board will select key core indicators to become part of an ongoing process to assess public health outcomes.

Briefing: King County Traffic Safety Coalition/Motorized Scooters
Mr. Tony Gómez, Injury Prevention Program Manager, will update the Board regarding recent King County Traffic Safety Coalition activities to prevent traffic related crashes. David Levinger, Executive Director of Feetfirst, will brief the Board regarding local, state, and national regulations associated with motorized scooters.

Briefing: Methadone Treatment of Opiate Dependency in King County
Michael Hanrahan, Coordinator, Drug Use & HIV/AIDS Prevention, Public Health Seattle & King County, and Ron Jackson, MSW, Executive Director, Evergreen Treatment Services, will provide an overview of methadone treatment for opiate dependency.

Briefing: Crisis Clinic Overview and 2-1-1 Service
Michelle McDaniel, Director, 2-1-1 and Marketing, Crisis Clinic, will provide an overview of the services offered by the Crisis Clinic.

Briefing: Pacific Health Summit/Road to Beijing
The Pacific Health Summit will invite healthcare, industry, and policy leaders from the major Pacific Rim countries to Seattle to meet with their American counterparts in June 2005, 2006, and 2007.

The King County Board of Health sets county-wide public health policy, enacts and enforces local public health regulations, and carries out other duties of local boards of health specified in state law. These duties include enforcing state public health statutes, preventing and controlling the spread of infectious disease, abating nuisances, and establishing fee schedules for licenses, permits and other services.
