KING COUNTY, WASHINGTON - With continued high temperatures in the forecast, Public Health - Seattle & King County warns residents that heat can cause serious medical problems. People at highest risk include older adults, young children, people with chronic illness, and people with weight or alcohol problems.
“It is a misperception that heat-related health problems do not exist in the Pacific Northwest,” said Dr. Alonzo Plough, Director and Health Officer at Public Health - Seattle & King County. “While we are fortunate to have a mild climate, when the thermometer does rise, people should take steps to avoid heat exhaustion or heat stroke.”
