KING COUNTY, WASHINGTON - The King County Board of Health will hold its next meeting on Friday, June 17, 2005, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

NOTICE OF RULEMAKING
Regulations on Environmental Health Service Fees and Food Code Amendments

Pursuant to its authority under RCW 70.05.060, the King County Board of Health hereby gives notice of proposed amendments to Titles 1, 2, 5, 7, 10, 12, 13, 14 and 15 of the Code of the King County Board of Health (“Board of Health Code”). The proposed amendments accomplish the following in order to both (i) relocate the codes governing fees for Environmental Health services into a single Title within the Board of Health Code, and (ii) update the King County Food Code:

  • Relocate the Environmental Health service fees from their present locations throughout the Board of Health Code and place them into Title 2 governing officers and administration;

  • Revise the fees for permits, plan reviews, inspections, and other Environmental Health services in the Food, Solid Waste, Drinking Water, Wastewater, Water Recreation Facility, and School Inspection programs to reflect accurately the cost of providing services for each calendar year through 2008;

  • Repeal obsolete provisions of the King County Food Code (Health Code Title 5); and

  • Adopt the recently-updated Washington State Board of Health food service rules (Chapter 246-215 WAC), with local amendments.

A public hearing on the proposed rules at which the public may state their views orally or in writing will be held during the regular meeting of the King County Board of Health, June 17, 2005, 9:30 a.m. in the Metropolitan King County Council Chambers, 10th floor, Courthouse, 516 Third Avenue, Seattle, WA. Written comments can also be submitted to: King County Board of Health, ATTN: Roycee Hasuko, Public Health – Seattle & King County, Wells Fargo Center, 999 Third Avenue, Suite 1200, Seattle, WA 98104; roycee.hasuko@metrokc.gov. 11. Update on Sexually Transmitted Diseases

Dr. Steven Helgerson, M.D., M.P.H., Manager, Prevention Division and Dr. Matthew Golden, M.D., Medical Director of the Sexually Transmitted Disease Control Program will present an update of trends in sexually transmitted diseases in King County, including information about a syphilis outbreak presently occurring here. The occurrence and control efforts for Chlamydia and gonorrhea will also be highlighted.

The King County Board of Health sets county-wide public health policy, enacts and enforces local public health regulations, and carries out other duties of local boards of health specified in state law.
