Health Update -- March 23, 2006

Influenza Vaccine Pre-booking with Distributors, 2006-2007 Season

This information is intended to assist healthcare providers ordering influenza vaccine for the 2006-2007 season. On March 16th, CDC provided an update regarding distributors that are continuing to pre-book influenza vaccine. The following is a list of organizations that are planning to distribute influenza vaccine manufactured by Chiron, ID Biomedical (contingent on FDA licensure), and MedImmune. Note that ID Biomedical is a subsidiary of Glaxo Smith Kline. CDC has contacted each of the distributors and reports the following information regarding the status of their pre-booking activities.

ASD Healthcare

  • ASD continues to pre-book Chiron flu vaccine (indicated for ages 4 and older)
  • ASD continues to pre-book ID Biomedical flu vaccine - contingent of FDA licensure - (indicated for ages 18 yrs and older)
  • ASD's flu hotline telephone number is 866-281-4FLU (4358)
  • ASD's website is www.asdhealthcare.com

Henry Schein (GIV)
Contact:  Lonnie Thomas (276) 688-2001

  • Henry Schein/GIV (HS) continues to pre-book Chiron flu vaccine (indicated for ages 4 and older)
  • HS continues to pre-book ID Biomedical flu vaccine-contingent of FDA licensure-(indicated for ages 18 yrs and older)
  • NOTE: HS is NOT pre-booking the ID Biomedical vaccine by brand but rather, contingent of FDA licensure, by classifying it as a "flu vaccine which they believe will be indicated for 18 years and older".
  • HS has currently stopped pre-booking FluMist for a while but, according to Lonnie, is in contract discussions with MedImmune and HS expects to begin pre-booking FluMist orders again shortly.

FFF Enterprises
