An estimated 7,800 properties served by septic systems are sold each year. The real estate industry plays a large role when these properties are sold or transferred. The real estate, escrow and title companies assist the seller and buyer in fulfilling their responsibilities and help provide an efficient and timely transaction.

Note: Septic system are also referred to as "on-site sewage system" in official documents, forms and applications.
