If you own or occupy a residence or mobile home, are now or will be age 61 or older by December 31 of this year, or are
retired because of physical disability, and if you have an income of $30,000 or less, you qualify for property tax
relief. Once qualified you continue to benefit from the exemption but any change in circumstances must be reported to
the Assessor to avoid penalties.
If you are age 60 or are retired because of physical disability and have an income of $34,000 or less, you may qualify
for deferral of your property tax liability. Deferred taxes become a lien on your property.
Owners of property destroyed in whole or in part prior to December 31 may be eligible for a prorated reduction in taxes
the following year.
Chapter 84.34 RCW provides for current use assessment of farm and agricultural land, timber land and other open space.
Applications are made to the Assessor for farm and agricultural land and to the King County Council at (206) 205-0535
