Follow-up to 2004 Workers' Compensation Financial
Audit The purpose of the review was to discuss the results of our follow-up on the recommendations of the 2004 Workers' Compensation Financial Audit. Issued November 1, 2005.
King County Elections Operations (Consultant) In May 2005, the County Council approved the County Auditor’s recommendation to contract with The Election Center to conduct the management audit of elections operations. The scope of this audit was to identify current administrative, procedural, organizational, and systemic deficiencies within the Election Section of the King County Records, Elections, and Licensing Services Division, and to recommend needed service improvements and operations enhancements to minimize errors and ensure timely and appropriate response to errors in the administration of future elections. The report was presented at the council’s Committee of the Whole meeting on October 3, 2005.
King County Sheriff's Office: Phase 2 The
audit reviewed the KCSO's operational master plan and followed up on
implementation of our 2004 recommendations; evaluated the KCSO's contract
cost models as applied to the Metro Transit and King County International
Airport contracts; and reviewed the adequacy of federal grants management
practices. Presented September 27, 2005. Transit Capital Planning and
Management The primary objective of the audit was to assess the extent to which the Department of Transportation Transit Division's practices are consistent with industry best practices for capital planning and management. Presented September 13, 2005.
King County Workers'
Compensation Program The audit identified reasons for the growth in county workers' compensation costs and determined whether the Office of Safety and Claims Management of the Human Resources Division followed best practices for controlling workers' compensation costs. Presented August 23, 2005.

Storage Follow-up Review The purpose of the review was to evaluate the section's progress in implementing recommendations from the 2004 City-County Records Storage Operations Partnering Opportunities study. Presented July 26, 2005.
King County Procurement Practices for
Brightwater Professional Design Engineering Services This performance audit examined the timeliness and cost effectiveness of the county’s procurement and contracting practices for professional design engineering services. Best practices were also considered for procurement of professional design engineering services to identify potential opportunities for improvement. Presented June 28, 2005.
King County Auditor's Office Review
of Quantifiable Business Case Project The management letter reviewed oversight monitoring of the next phase of developing a countywide integrated financial and human resource system. Presented April 12, 2005.
