| Patterson and Dunn Team Up for Renton | |||
| Renton-area
residents packed into the Spirit of Washington Events Center in downtown
Renton Wednesday night to share their concerns and ideas with King County
Councilmembers Julia
Patterson and Reagan
Dunn, who both represent portions of the City of Renton on the Council.
They held the community forum together to hear from local residents.
Much of the feedback from residents focused on the need for meaningful transportation improvements. Patterson and Dunn have been collaborating on regional transportation issues. Patterson serves as Chair of the King County Council Transportation Committee where Dunn is Vice-Chair. Likewise, Dunn serves as Chair of the Regional Transit Committee where Patterson is Vice-Chair. Both Patterson and Dunn hold leadership positions with the Regional Transportation Improvement District (RTID). “The most congested interchange in the state of Washington is at I-405 and SR 167, right on the doorstep to the city of Renton,” said Patterson. “It impedes freight movement to the Green River Valley and adds hours to the daily commutes of Renton-area residents. We heard loud and clear from voters that they want a transportation plan that addresses chokepoints like this.” Residents also shared their thoughts about public safety, the proposed Fairwood incorporation, the proposed West Hill annexation, and a range of other issues. Everybody in attendance had an opportunity to ask questions and share comments. Patterson is a Democrat from SeaTac and Dunn a Republican from Bellevue, but despite coming from different political parties, the two said they believe in teaming up on transportation and other issues in order to serve the interests of the residents of Renton and King County. “It is a pleasure to work together with Reagan Dunn on issues impacting residents of Renton,” said Patterson. “Our bipartisan approach and respectful relationship allows us to be effective in delivering results for the community,” added Dunn. The two County Councilmembers hope to hold additional community meetings together again in the future. In the meantime, they invited residents to contact each of their offices with any suggestions, ideas or concerns regarding King County government.
