Dear Friend:

Happy Holidays! This is such a wonderful time of year and a great opportunity for me to connect with you. Your support has allowed me to do so much for our communities.

This past Monday, December 17, the King County Council took its first vote on Council and Committee Chair positions. I am pleased that my colleagues entrusted me with the following positions.

1) Chair of Utilities and Parks. This committee will oversee issues ranging from new funding supported by the voters for our parks system to the long-term strategies for our waste system.

2) Chair of the Council’s Employment & Administration Committee. Along with general budget and administrative duties, the Council has charged me to lead all of our staff through hiring, training and proper legislative support for the Council through its committee staff.

3) Vice Chair of Regional Water Quality Committee. This committee focuses much of its efforts on the Brightwater treatment facility, storm water runoff and other related issues affecting our water quality.

The Council has more decisions to make on committee leadership and memberships. I look forward to using my land use and budgetary skills in leadership positions. I will update you in January when the second set of votes take place on Council reorganization.
