Transportation Focus of Ferguson Town Meeting

State Rep. Ed Murray and King County Councilmember Julia Patterson to join discussion of regional transportation solutions

Metropolitan King County Councilmember Bob Ferguson hosts his second town meeting of 2004 on Wed., May 19, 7 p.m. at University Heights Center, 5031 University Way N.E. Ferguson will be joined by State Rep. Ed Murray (D-43), Chair of the House Transportation Committee and King County Councilmember Julia Patterson (D-South King County), a member of the Executive Board of the Regional Transit Investment District (RTID) for a discussion of major transportation projects and funding.

One of the primary subjects for discussion at the meeting will be RTID, the joint effort by King, Pierce and Snohomish Counties to coordinate a package of regional transportation projects and funding for voters.

“Both Ed and Julia have been real leaders in the effort to coordinate the work to find solutions to our region’s transportation problems,” Ferguson explained. “They both have been closely involved with RTID’s development and both bring important information and perspectives for people in District 2 to hear. This should be a great meeting.”

District 2 includes Seattle’s Northeast neighborhoods, including Wedgwood, the University District, Roosevelt, Wallingford, east Fremont, Maple Leaf, Licton Springs, Laurelhurst and Pinehurst. The rough boundaries are Lake Washington on the east, Highway 99 on the west, N.E. 125th on the north, and Lake Union and the Ship Canal on the south.

Ferguson was elected to the King County Council in September 2003. This year he chairs the King County Regional Policy Committee, and he serves on the Council’s Budget and Financial Management Committee; the Transportation Committee; the Law, Justice and Human Services Committee; and the Natural Resources and Utilities Committee.
