"Citizen Budget Priorities" the focus of next Town Hall Meeting The Citizen Budget Priorities intiative will be the focus of the next Council Town Hall Meeting. This year, the Council started a new public involvement process to better understand how the residents of King County feel their government should prioritize services and spend tax dollars. Citizen workshops and public forums have been conducted throughout the county by an independent consultant using established public opinion research techniques. Results from the initiative will help the Council set its priorities for the 2008 budget.
This special Town Hall Meeting will feature a briefing on the intiative by Stuart Elway of Elway Research. The public will have an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback. The meeting will be held on the Microsoft campus at the Microsoft Convention Center, 16070 NE 36th Way, Redmond, on Monday, April 16. The public is invited to meet face-to-face with King County Councilmembers at an informal reception starting at 6:00 p.m. The program will run from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The County Council is a regional government committed to engaging King County residents in their local communities. Throughout the year, the Council holds local Town Hall Meetings on issues of public importance. Community members have the opportunity to meet Councilmembers, be briefed by local and regional experts, and provide public testimony. Each Town Hall is a special meeting of the Council’s Committee-of-the-Whole (COW), the only standing committee on which all nine members serve. COW considers legislation and policy issues of interest to the entire council. Recent town hall meetings have been held in Renton, West Seattle, Carnation, Auburn, Shoreline, Seattle, Bellevue, and Enumclaw. Questions?
