Funding Available For Community Development
Activities
The King County Housing and Community Development (HCD)
Program is pleased to announce the opportunity to apply
for funding from the federal Community Development Block
Grant program for 2009 year of funds. Approximately
$2 million in Community Development Block Grant funds
will be available for capital project funding in 2009.
The funds may be used for acquisition, construction
or rehabilitation of community facilities, public improvements
or other activities determined eligible per HUD regulations.

King County Community Development staff from HCD will
be available throughout April and May to meet with agencies
and cities that anticipate submitting funding applications.

CDBG Funds may be requested by nonprofit organizations
and public agencies for:
- Community facility projects including acquisition,
construction, and rehabilitation of health and human
service facilities including, but not limited to,
senior centers; childcare centers; facilities for
disabled adults; food banks; social service facilities;
and health care facilities. Projects must be consistent
with the King County Consortium Consolidated Housing
& Community Development Plan for 2006-2009 and CDBG
Program Regulations.
- Public improvement projects including, but not limited
to, construction or reconstruction of stormwater systems,
water and sewer systems, streets, sidewalks and park
facilities. Funds may also be requested to pay for
removal of architectural barriers in existing public
facilities. Projects must be consistent with the King
County Consortium Consolidated Housing & Community
Development Plan for 2006-2009 and CDBG Program Regulations.
