Youth & Family Services
The King County Youth and Family Program plays a notable role as a funder and/or funding partner in developing and supporting programs targeted at youth with identified social risk factors. Contracts made with community based agencies enable us to more effectively respond to the varying needs in our communities. These agencies provide a unique blend of programs and services.

All agencies are community-based and have Boards comprised of local citizens. These Boards determine the mix and quality of services provided. In addition, there are over five hundred volunteers countywide fulfilling many roles within the agencies. Systems Coordination allows all agencies to work on behalf of their clients along with other public and private systems including: juvenile justice, state children's services, police, and shelter care. Partnerships with local schools make it possible to offer day treatment, agency offices in schools, classroom presentations, and special counseling and support groups. Community collaborations help to develop links and partnerships with other local community groups.
Each agency is funded through a unique revenue mix, but all have United Way funding and funding from King County. These basic funding sources allow the agencies to leverage other funds to increase services. Fees, fund raising, other government contracts and grants also fund the agencies.
Services we support include: outreach, youth and family counseling, case management, gang intervention, drug prevention and parenting classes, drug and alcohol treatment and support groups, employment and education programs, tutoring, youth development, family support, and many others.
