Seeking Public Comment:

Amendments to the Consolidated Housing and Community Development Plan for 2005-2009

King County Housing and Community Development Program is seeking public comment on Amendments to the Consolidated Housing & Community Development Plan for 2005-2009.

King County receives approximately $12.2 million in federal funds (CDBG, HOME and Emergency Shelter Grant funds) from HUD each year, on behalf of King County and 34 cities and towns in King County that make up the Consortia. These funds may be used for a wide range of activities that primarily benefit very low to moderate-income households, pursuant to the goals and objectives established in a five-year Consolidated Housing and Community Development Plan. The Consortia also uses the Consolidated Plan to guide the allocation of other state and local funds that meet the same objectives.

The King County Consortia is amending the 2005-2009 Consolidated Plan and seeking public comments on the amendments. The proposed amendments to the Consolidated Plan will be available for review and comment from August 15, 2008 through September 15, 2008.

The proposed amendments are available here: King County Consortium Strategic Plan with Amendments. The amendments appear in color in the document as follows:

  1. Addition of HUD performance measurements to each major strategy of the Strategic Plan
  2. Addition of a new strategy in Goal II, Ending Homelessness (Page 22)
  3. Appendage of a Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy Area plan for White Center, as contemplated in the Consolidated Plan (Page 28) and proposed Appendix L
  4. 4) Amendment of economic development strategies due to funding and staff reductions (Page 30).

If you prefer that a hard copy be sent to you by mail, please contact the King County Housing and Community Development (HCD) Program at 206-263-9092. The proposed amendments will also be available for review at the HCD office, located in the Chinook Building, 401 Fifth Avenue, Suite 510, Seattle. The office is open from Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Comments on the Proposed Consolidated Plan must be submitted in writing by e-mail or by letter or delivery, no later than 4:30 p.m. on September 15, 2008 to the HCD office, Attention: Kathy Tremper, Community Development Section Coordinator or submit your comments below.
