KING COUNTY OFFERS FREE WIND DAMAGE INSPECTIONS
IN THE UNINCORPORATED AREA - CALL 206-296-6630

In response to the high winds experienced last week, the King County Department of Development and Environmental Services (DDES) will offer free wind damage structural inspections to citizens in the unincorporated area. Inspections will be conducted within one business day of the request. In addition to evaluating the integrity of the damaged structure, DDES inspectors will assess whether a permit is required to proceed with repairs. For minor repairs, permits can be issued over the counter. In the event of major damage, the permit review will be expedited.

"Given safety concerns and the emergency conditions much of unincorporated King County is operating under right now, we thought waiving the regular $319.99 damage assessment fee made sense,” said King County Executive Ron Sims. “I know the fee waiver is a small consolation if you are faced with major wind damage to your home or property, but this can help lighten the burden.”

To request a damage inspection during business hours, please call 206-296-6630.

Please note: DDES only has jurisdiction in the unincorporated area. For damage within a city limit, the pertinent city should be contacted.

For additional information, please contact Tim Attebery, Public Affairs Director, at 206-296-6682, or Mike Dykeman, Building Services Division Director, at 206-296-6761.
