Farmworkers Deserve Discrimination-Free Housing

We are hearing about housing discrimination, shortages, and deplorable conditions from a growing number of farmworkers, advocates, school professionals, and others connected to farmworker communities.
Homeless Service Providers and Fair Housing Compliance
Fair housing and homeless issues intersect. By incorporating fair housing principles into program operations, homeless service providers minimize risks of violating civil rights laws and thus, can focus on ending homelessness, not perpetuating it.
New Publications Focus on People with Criminal Records, Religious Accommodation
The Seattle Office for Civil Rights has released two new brochures: one with important information for people with criminal records, and another that discusses religious accommodations.
New Lending Division Created at HUD to Investigate Allegations of Discrimination

Fair Housing Questions & Answers Column

- When we call a previous rental manager for a reference about an applicant, can we ask if the applicant ever filed any discrimination complaints?
- The condominium board members know that Mr. Paulson previously had cancer, which is in remission, and that he's been symptom-free for a year. They turn down his application for a board position, saying it would be too much of a strain on him. Is this a lawful action?
