Household Hazardous Waste
What can I do about Household Hazardous Waste?

  • Don't buy hazardous household products in the first place. Use safe substitutes.

  • Buy the smallest amount you need for the job.

Caution signal word from a label.

  • Buy the product with the lowest level of warning on the label. For example, buy "caution" instead of "danger."

  • Use up what you have. Read the label and follow all the instructions. Ask your parents before using hazardous products - some are too dangerous for kids to use.

  • If you can't use it up, give it away to someone who will.

  • As a last resort, dispose of household hazardous waste safely. In King County, call (206)296-4692 for details.
