Solid Waste Division - reduce, reuse, recycle

Environmental Awareness Program

Whether it’s managing a complex landfill system, driving a garbage transfer trailer or ordering office paper, every day employees are making decisions on the job that can affect the environment. Sometimes the more environmentally sound choice is obvious, other times it may require knowledge of a specific and often complicated procedure, regulation or policy.

The Solid Waste Division (SWD) is committed to minimizing the effects of what we do on the environment. To strengthen this commitment, we recently embarked on a new program to guide our day-to-day environmental decisions. The program is called the Environmental Awareness Program (EAP). And its primary goal is to develop a division-wide Environmental Management System that documents our environmental practices in all aspects of operation from the field to the shop to the office.
