Rules & RegulationsSolid waste handling, as defined in Revised Code of Washington 70.95.030 (external link), includes management, storage, collection, transportation, treatment, utilization, processing and final disposal. The responsibility for the administration of solid waste handling systems in Washington is divided among the state, counties, inter-jurisdictional health departments, and cities. The governmental roles and authorities are delineated in federal, state, and county law; regulations; and agreements. The major rules and regulations are intended to maintain the highest standards of quality for the protection of human health and the environment, including groundwater, surface water, soil and air. |
