2004 Hall of Fame

U.S. EPA Award

King County is the only local government agency in the U.S. EPA Hall of Fame (external).

The King County WasteWise program promotes internal waste prevention, recycling collection and purchasing of recycled products

The WasteWise Team can help King County agencies improve and expand:

  • Recycling collection programs
  • Waste prevention efforts
  • Purchases of recycled products

The team also can help county agencies measure, evaluate and recognize their achievements. More than 50 King County agencies have received assistance from the WasteWise Team.

King County’s WasteWise program is part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s national WasteWise program (external link).

Major partners of WasteWise at King County are:

King County WasteWise has won national awards from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (external) every year from 1999 to 2003, and in October 2004 was inducted into the EPA WasteWise Hall of Fame. King County is the only local government agency in the Hall of Fame.
