There are also a number of business recognition programs that sponsor local, regional or national awards to acknowledge companies for their work in conservation, waste reduction and recycling. Solid WasteWasteWiseAn Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) voluntary partnership program through which partners receive technical assistance and recognition for their waste reduction efforts. Hazardous WasteEnviroStarsA regional program that certifies businesses for their efforts to prevent pollution and reduce hazardous waste. In King County, EnviroStars is a service of the Local Hazardous Waste Management Program in partnership with the Puget Soundkeeper Alliance. Energy ConservationEnergy StarAn Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) program designed to help businesses of all sizes perform energy-efficient upgrades. Greenhouse EmissionsClimate WiseAssists businesses in tracking and reducing greenhouse emissions by making improvements in energy and resource efficiency and offers publicity for voluntary actions. Program is administered by Seattle City Light in cooperation with Seattle Public Utilities, the Seattle Business and Industry Resource Venture and other service providers. |
