Closed Landfills
The Solid Waste Division (SWD) maintains custodial responsibilities for ten landfills located throughout King County. These landfills include Bow Lake, Cedar Falls, Corliss, Duvall, Enumclaw, Hobart, Houghton, Puyallup/Kit Corner, South Park and Vashon. Landfills undergo routine monitoring of groundwater, surface water, wastewater and landfill gas as needed. They are closed to the public, except at select landfills where some public activities are compatible with the ongoing maintenance activities. A variety of documents related to King County's closed landfills are available through the King County Library System. Call the library's Answer Line at 425-462-9600 or 1-800-462-9600, or view a list of documents online (external) to determine which library offers the documents that most interest you.
