Solid Waste Division - reduce, reuse, recycle

Business Collection

There are currently no regulations that require a standard level of recycling or recycling services for businesses and institutions. However, more and more businesses are recycling an important part of their internal operations. A few cities, including Auburn, Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, Snoqualmie, and Tukwila, provide city-contracted recycling collection services for their business community. The cost of recycling is included in their garbage billing statements. Businesses are not required to use these collection services and can procure different or additional recycling services if they prefer.

Businesses can obtain recycling collection from a large and diverse group of local recyclers who collect and recycle many types of materials. Business can work individually with the private recyclers to set up a recycling service that meets their needs.

For recycling of a specific material, use the King County What Do I Do With? Web site.
