Site Improvements
Low Impact Development allows a developed site to more closely mimic the conditions found on an undisturbed site. |
Creating truly green, sustainable buildings requires more than designing a green building itself. It requires careful site selection and design considerations. Low Impact Development (LID) is an innovative, ecosystem-based approach to land development and stormwater management, limiting surface water runoff and pollutant generation from a development site. The application of LID allows a developed site to more closely mimic the conditions found on an undisturbed site. In addition, the use of compost helps restore soil conditions to pre-development conditions.
|
These regulations require permit holders to preserve topsoil, restore soils by adding compost after construction, or implement other measures to maintain the soil's moisture holding capacity.

Low Impact Development (LID) focuses on how water enters a site, is stored on-site, and leaves a site.
