GreenTools Suburban City Toolkit

Welcome to King County's GreenTools Suburban City Toolkit. Inside, you'll find resources to help your city create a lasting green building program that will make for more vibrant communities and a healthier environment.

Today, King County's suburban cities face several significant challenges associated with growth, human health, and the environment. These challenges range from reducing impacts to global warming, to creating healthier homes, to protecting wildlife habitat, and more. King County’s GreenTools program will provide your city with the tools and resources to inspire change and, ultimately, help your city meet these challenges.

This toolkit includes a wealth of resources to create a successful green building program. Inside you'll find:

  • Detailed descriptions of the types of target audiences important to green building programs and the kinds of resources best suited to each target audience
  • A sample green building ordinance for suburban cities to use as a template
  • Relevant case studies to demonstrate successful green building projects and developments
  • A list of resources and technical assistance available through King County, and more

The GreenTools Suburban City Toolkit is not intended to create a one–size-fits-all green building program for King County's suburban cities. Rather, our goal is to provide customized assistance and resources that can be tailored to create green building programs that best address each city's specific challenges. Once you've had the chance to review this toolkit, please contact us and let us know how we can help your city build green.
