GreenTools for Building Materials C&D Recycling

In 2005, more than 402,000 tons of construction and demolition (C&D) debris was sent from greater King County (not including Seattle) to landfills. These materials are not only pushing us to the limit when it comes to solid waste, they also represent a great deal of value that is lost forever when the materials are disposed to a landfill. King County can provide resources and information to your city to help builders implement deconstruction practices, create effective worksite recycling programs, and find markets for materials that would otherwise go to waste.

At King County we recognize the need for you to not only recycle materials but address the demand for purchasing green building products. In the past finding affordable, high quality materials that met a builder's specifications and provided green sustainable qualities could be a challenge. Today, green building is going mainstream, and access to high-quality affordable green building materials is a reality. GreenTools provides the resources to find and select the most appropriate green building materials for nearly any project.
