Expanded Polystyrene PartnersThis LinkUp partner is working to establish expanded polystyrene recycling in King County. Total ReclaimMaterials processed: expanded polystyrene, electronics, lamps, appliances, etc. Seattle-based Total Reclaim (external) is a recycling company that specializes in recycling and managing hard-to-handle and potentially hazardous materials. It offers recycling services for appliances, refrigerant gases, fluorescent lamps, ballasts, computers, monitors, televisions and batteries. In spring 2008, Total Reclaim was selected as a LinkUp partner to receive support to establish a collection and recycling program for expanded polystyrene (EPS) in King County. The company plans to open EPS recycling facilities in Seattle and Portland. LinkUp assistance:

SKCAC IndustriesMaterials processed: paper; and will process expanded polystyrene once pilot program is established Kent-based SKCAC Industries (external) is a non-profit established in 1967 as a production and employment services organization that also provides employment and job placement services for people with developmental disabilities. SKCAC's contract production services include assembly, kitting, collation, fabrication and packaging, and the organization currently processes paper and cardboard waste from the newspaper publishing industry. LinkUp technical and/or market support has been awarded to SKCAC and will be provided in 2009 contingent on the organization's establishment of its pilot EPS recycling facility in South King County.
