Earth Hero Program

Meet our June 2000 Earth Heroes!

Jim and Nancy Roberts
Jim and Nancy Roberts are familiar faces on the beaches of King County. For the past two years, they have committed themselves to working with the Beach Naturalist Program. The purpose of the program is to educate beach visitors about the unique plants and animals that inhabit the shore, and encourage the public to help protect and enjoy this fragile ecosystem.

In addition, the Roberts have selflessly given their time and skills to the Nature Conservancy, U.S. Forest Service, Audubon Society and other environmental organizations. From educating visitors on the sensitive areas in our ecosystem to participating in bird surveys around the County, the Roberts truly embody the real meaning of stewardship to our natural environment, to our communities, and to our future generations.

"Honoring quiet, unsung heroes is part of this legacy," said Sims. "Jim and Nancy Roberts and Seattle Goodwill are shining examples of an Earth Hero. It is important that we share their stories with our children-showing that everyone can make a difference in protecting our air, land and water."
