Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Control Program
What is it? This program works to reduce the volume of overflow from sewers.

How does it help the environment? The program protects our environment from some of the contamination associated sewer overflows.

What can I do? The public can help the environment by reducing their use of chemical products in their yards, homes, and businesses. To find out more call Karen Huber at (206) 684-1246 or via e-mail.

Washington Conservation Corps (WCC), King County DNR Crew
Washington Conservation Corps What is it? Since 1994, King County has worked with the Washington Conservation Corps (WCC) to provide skilled restoration labor for various projects. These young adults receive employment, training and college credit as WCC Americorps volunteers.

How does it help the environment? The WCC is involved in hands on restoration and enhancement of natural streams, wetlands, and their buffers.

How can I help? If you are a resident of Washington State and you are between the ages of 18 and 25 you can become a member. Call Paul Adler at (206) 296-8396 or via e-mail. Visit the WCC website.


Wastewater Treatment Plant
What is it? It offer tours of wastewater treatment facilities.

How does it help the environment? It shows the public something most folks don't think about. "Where does the water go when I flush?"

Green Team
What is it? This program organizes elementary school students and teachers into "Green Teams," which learn about environmental issues and then develop earth friendly projects.

How does this help the environment? The Green Teams undertake all sorts of projects to help the environment including tree planting or improving their school's recycling program etc.

Hop on the Habitat Express
What is it? This program puts on a live assembly in schools around King County teaching waste reduction and recycling.

How does it help the environment? It creates an Earth culture!
