Ensuring Federal Way has
the equipment, personnel and training to have and maintain a premier fire
department while protecting taxpayers from runaway budgets; this is why I would
like to be a Federal Way Fire Commissioner. I have been a volunteer firefighter/EMT.
I have worked in numerous management positions and own a business. This has
taught me the importance and rules of maintaining sustainable budgets.
My service record
includes volunteering with Youth for Understanding International Exchange, the
U.S. Peace Corps and West Point Volunteer Fire Department. My education includes
a BA from Indiana University, an EMT internship at St. Elizabeth Hospital as
well as continuing education in foreign language and computers.
I look forward to
serving the Federal Way community as Fire Commissioner.

The challenge we face in
the future includes the need for expanding services in the midst of uncertain
funding. We must find a way to get better within the limits our taxpayers set
for us.
I recently retired as
a Captain in the Federal Way Fire Department after 32 years of Service to the
citizens of Federal Way. I am running for Fire Commissioner so that I can return
something to the community that supported my career.
My knowledge and
experience in the fire service will help the board make decisions that maintain
and expand the standards and services that make Federal Way one of the best Fire
Departments in the state.
I have been married
for 33 years, have 2 grown sons, and belong to St. Vincent DePaul Parish, and
currently work as a fishing guide.
