I look forward to
continuing to serve as Hospital Commissioner as Evergreen Healthcare faces a
challenging future. With increasing costs and decreasing reimbursements
(insurance, Medicare and Medicaid), the biggest challenges are continuing to
provide all existing services, updating to the most effective technology
and meeting the changing health needs of the community. I remain committed to
working with agencies, school districts, physicians and other providers to use
limited resources more efficiently to improve the health status of the community
through health education, wellness promotion, disease prevention, early
detection of disease, and providing high quality care to patients and their
families. Serving all District residents, regardless of ability to pay, is
important. My clinical experience as a Medical Technologist (ASCP) with
financial training in the University of Washington MBA program provide a good
balance for weighing the financial side of decisions with the effect on clinical
operations and provision of care. Serving on the American Hospital Association’s
Committee on Governance and recent appointment to the AHA Policy Board for
Region IX provide early knowledge of changes healthcare faces and issues that
impact Evergreen.
My husband, Tom, and
I have lived in the Juanita area 28 years and have three adult children.
