I am seeking the position
of Park Commissioner, because I believe in the value of participation. Over the
past 13 years I have worked with governments, Indian tribes, and businesses
balancing the needs of natural resource management with developing a sustainable
local economy. As a small business owner, I understand the need to balance
fiscal priorities and competing interests. As a resident of Vashon Island I
appreciate the value of being involved with the community, whether it is the
Chamber of Commerce, Transportation Lifeline Committee or just a neighborhood
gathering.
Looking at the next
four years, I believe the key issues for the Park District will be stewardship,
participation, and balance. All of which would not be possible without the
support and input of our island community. I look forward to having the
opportunity to serving the people of Vashon and Maury Islands in the role of
Park Commissioner.
