List of Candidates for
EAST BELLEVUE COMM MUNICIPAL CORP COUNCIL POS. NO. 03, 4 YR TERM

Brigitte Wiechmann

For 33 years the East Bellevue Community Council has worked hard to maintain the quality of life by overseeing growth management, land-use action and traffic control. Their work has resulted in great parks, walking trails, bike paths, roadways and acoustical walls to protect affected neighbors.

I have been an East Bellevue resident for 28 years and have had input into these projects, including participation as a member of the Citizens Advisory Council on the current 140th Avenue N.E. project. I have been an officer and director of the Bellevue Sister Cities Association. I am a founding director of NAMI Eastside, which advocates for the mentally ill in the greater Eastside area.

I believe my background as a long-term resident, who is involved in community activities for the betterment of Bellevue, will allow me to represent your interests in the future development of our community.

Jo Maus

My family has lived, worked and volunteered in East Bellevue for over 35 years. My husband is a Bellevue High School graduate and retired teacher. I’ve been a Teachers Aide, active in PTSA and VIBES (Volunteers in Bellevue Education System). As a Group Health Eastside Hospital volunteer, I created the TLC program, emphasizing patient comfort and Teddy Bears for children. Currently, I chair the hospital scholarship committee. I have been a member of the Election Board for over 20 years. I met with the Neighborhood Network South and the Factoria Business Group. Now I’d like to work closer to home. Through the East Bellevue Community Council, I would become a liaison for our neighborhood. An effective council member needs to have good listening skills and then translate ideas into action on behalf of the community. I would enjoy being that person.
