The cemeteries on
Vashon-Maury have the distinction of being the only public cemeteries in King
County. The district is upgrading the computer systems in order to better serve
the public with respect to buying and selling plots, easily locating existing
grave sites and finding historical data.
I have lived on
Vashon Island with my husband and son for over 14 years. My son was born on
Veterans Day and we often visit the cemetery on that day and on Memorial Day,
putting flowers on the veterans’ graves and noticing what wars they participated
in and when they died.
I have been a
research mathematician, systems analyst, math teacher and office manager.
Recently, I have held positions in accounting and bookkeeping. I have always
excelled in customer service and hope that experience, plus my expertise in
computers, will aid me in performing my duties as your Cemetery Commissioner.
