As a resident, I’m deeply
concerned about problems we face in our city. As a candidate, I’m committed to
correcting them. We must stop the third runway. We must increase support for
Police in the fight against crime. I will vote to save your tax dollars and
guard your money from wasteful spending. As a business owner, I understand
fiscal responsibility. I know how to handle money and work with people. Our city
council needs my real world experience.
When elected, I will
work hard to insure, City administration follows city council policy, City
Council represents your interests and is accountable to YOU for its
actions.
This is a
non-partisan position. Party politics should not belong here.
I need your vote and
your friends and neighbors votes to be elected.
ELECT RICHARD BENJAMIN

Dan has lived in Des
Moines for 26 years, devoting the past 12 years to public service. He helped
establish a new tone of civil and thoughtful discussion to local government
operations. In the past four years your city council has considered issues that
will affect the daily lives of residents for many years to come such as the
community/recreational center developing near the post office; the newly rezoned
area on Pacific Highway; the battle to preserve our environment against the
airport’s arrogance and wasteful spending; and the new Marina Master Plan.
Dan’s overriding
principles: preserve residential community life in Des Moines and continue to
keep government open, accessible, and responsive. Challenges ahead include state
budgetary cutbacks, seemingly endless transportation woes, and new demands on
shoreline management. Dan’s experience will best represent you at the local and
regional levels in the years ahead.
