Over the past four years
I have worked, as a Planning Commissioner and a City Council Member, to bring
new ideas to city government. Over the next four years, we will have important
decisions to make regarding our city’s future. We must work to develop a “real”
downtown—a vibrant neighborhood where people shop, but also live, work and play.
Preserving the character of our residential neighborhoods depends on our
directing new growth to a higher density downtown. Moreover, economic
development of our downtown is critical if we are to maintain one of the lowest
property tax rates in King County. We should also grow through annexation.
Development east of I-5 has a direct impact on transportation, crime and other
issues west of I-5. With a total population of 115,000, we will have a greater
say on issues such as transportation funding for on-ramps at 312th
Street and Enchanted Parkway.
