CITY OF LAKE FOREST PARK COUNCIL POS. NO. 03, 4 YR TERM

Mary Jane Goss

I have been honored to represent you on the Lake Forest Park City Council for the last 4 years. Although it has been challenging, much has been accomplished. I've worked hard as chair of the finance committee and as a Lake Forest Park representative on our region's Seashore Transportation Forum. I have been your voice voting to hold the line on taxes and making sure new programs pencil out. I firmly believe we must plan to provide affordable housing alternatives for our seniors, clearly defined goals for our parks, and strive for policies which fit our limited budget and that are environmentally responsible. I love this community, as does my husband and 4 children, which is why I'm committed to working hard and doing a good job on the basics. I'll continue to ask those questions you would ask. I listen when you speak. I'm your voice on city council.

The most important job of the city council is budgeting and allocating tax dollars wisely. I will work to ensure the highest of priorities is assigned to communication and gathering community input in order that the decisions of the city council are aligned with the interests of the citizens. As a teacher at Shorecrest High School I became familiar with the community of Lake Forest Park. I was impressed by the city’s commitment to education and by the high level of citizen involvement in the schools. I moved my family to Lake Forest Park because it is a very special neighborhood within a large metropolitan region. I believe the most important elements in making a community strong are: informed citizens, public safety, good schools. I would like to continue my service to this community and represent your interests by working hard to maintain this city’s integrity and independence.
