Des Moines is a wonderful place to live and raise a family. In recent years we have faced many challenges, from a dramatic 22% cut in our operating budget (due to I-695), to the threatening airport expansion. Tough decisions have been made to help protect our quality of life. I listened to your comments and concerns and pledge to continue my efforts to address the issues that will keep our city great. My own children and grandchildren have attended our local schools and played in our local parks, so I know how much they mean to our families and community. I promise to continue my support of the Marina Master Plan implementation, Pacific Ridge development, improve senior services, fight airport expansion and adding additional sport fields for our children. All of these will make our small city a better place to live. I need your vote. Thank You!

The City Council is the collective wants, desires, needs, and requirements of the community of Des Moines. It is a focus of our lives not only politically but also more importantly, as a society. Recently some problems have occurred where the Council has not acted on behalf of the community - they reacted to our anger towards codes and laws created. City Council should act for the citizens, not react to us. As your councilman, I will make sure what you want enacted is what I vote for; what you do not want is what I vote against.

Our city council has lost touch with its citizens. Tripling business licenses, levying "street light" taxes, and awarding a contract exceeding $250,000 with less than 15 minutes' discussion are a few examples of questionable council actions.
As your council member, I will:
Actively encourage citizen involvement;
Endeavor to spend revenues wisely; and
Treat city government as a business, reducing expenses wherever possible.
My credentials for council are business background, community involvement, and common sense. Graduated from Kennedy High and Western Washington University; I own Professional Mortgage in Des Moines. Community involvement includes: Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors; St. Vincent de Paul Society conference president; Des Moines Dollars for Scholars founding member; and Kent School Business Education Committee. My husband, Bob, and I have been married 25 years and have three sons.
It would be a privilege to represent you on the Council; please vote September 18. Thank you.
