Ed Sterner is a community advocate in the best sense. He's worked tirelessly to make our neighborhoods the best they can be. As a Lake Forest Park City Council member, Ed has used his Masters degree in government to help make the city work better. Property tax rates are down 10%. Crime is reduced. Programs he champions are helping young people and senior citizens while promoting efficient government. "We need Ed's vision on the King County Council." Sam Reed, Secretary of State.
Ed's roots go deep into our community. He serves on the Northshore/Shoreline Community Network, the King County Juvenile Justice Operational Master Plan Oversight Committee and received the PTA Golden Acorn Award for outstanding volunteer service to youth and community. He's also served as Scout leader, service club President, soccer coach and volunteer legal counselor.
Working on the Council, Ed will strive to relieve transportation gridlock, control taxes, increase affordable housing, promote employment and preserve environmentally sensitive lands. He believes county policies and regulations must offer common-sense solutions rather than the mixed messages and confused policies of the past.
Please join us in supporting Ed Sterner for King County Council.

We agree that when it comes to traffic we need to expand the successful services already used by commuters. I will fight for more buses, increased frequency, expanded park and rides, and fixing of our roads. I will ensure the Regional Transportation System is accountable to the taxpayers. We agree the best way to fight crime is to prevent it. I support our Sheriff's Department and defend the budget they need to fight the high-tech crime and other serious crimes threatening our community. Water has been taken for granted, and we must reevaluate how we use this resource. We do have the water to satisfy human and environmental needs if we become smarter in tapping, storing, delivering, reclaiming and conserving our water. Building upon the past four generations of my family living right here in the district, I have a degree in Urban Geography from University of Washington, attended Shoreline Community College and I am proud to serve as Chair of the City of Bothell Parks and Recreation. I am the only candidate that works with these regional issues on a daily basis and brings years of experience in solving issues in King County. I ask for your vote.

Why would I want to give up representing you in the Legislature to serve you on the County Council? It is true that state policy drives local decisions. But, local government most directly affects peoples' lives. The decisions facing the County are great:
- TAXPAYER ACCOUNTABILITY
IN OLYMPIA I VOTED AGAINST GREAT SOUNDING ITEMS BECAUSE I WANTED TO HOLD THE LINE.
- LOCATING THE NEW SEWAGE TREATMENT FACILITY
THERE MUST BE SUFFICIENT OPPORTUNITY FOR EACH OF US TO PARTICIPATE IN THE DECISION MAKING PROCESS.
- CLEANING UP AND CONSERVING THE WATER
WE MUST PRESERVE OPEN SPACE AND SENSITIVE AREAS AS WE MANAGE GROWTH.
- FINDING TRANSPORTATION SOLUTIONS
WE HAVE TO MAKE PROGRESS IN FINDING NEW TRANSIT OPTIONS. AT THE LEAST, WE CAN IMPROVE THE EFFICIENCY OF WHAT KING COUNTY CONTROLS.
I've spent the last three years as your 32nd District State Representative. In a deadlocked legislature, I wrote and passed strong legislation for education, long-term care and low-income housing. I was named "Legislator of the Year" by Home Care Association, and " Champion of Quality Care" by the Washington Health Care Association. Now, I'd like to work where we need the most help - the County Council.
