Being a native Islander I feel this
community had a large hand in raising me. Growing up here my parents involved
me in many Island activities year round, nearly all of which included our parks
and other services that Vashon Parks District now provides. I believe our parks
district is a vital part of our children's growth. I fondly remember, as a
youth working for King County Parks at Vashon Pool and other parks in the
county and on Island, I enjoyed that experience and will enjoy the opportunity
again if elected. I am an outdoor enthusiast and a regular user of our parks on
the island all my life, from boat launches to athletic fields to the many
trails and beautiful beaches. As your commissioner I will work to ensure your
dollars create parks that all islanders have the opportunity to enjoy and are
home to everyone. Thank you.

I am a native of the Puget Sound region and care
about open space and recreation. My husband Bob and I live at Tahlequah and
enjoy gardening, boating, and walking our dog Ruby.
As the Land Trust executive director, I helped
preserve 110 acres on our island. I've also been involved with the Master
Gardeners, South End Club, Keepers of Point Robinson, and the Methodist Church.
My professional background includes managing statewide recycling and energy
conservation initiatives.
The Park District is one of Vashon's premiere
assets, providing opportunities to ride horses, row, play sports, and enjoy
concerts in Ober Park. As Commissioner, my goal will be to help ensure the
financial integrity of the District - to bolster today's programs and meet
future needs. I believe that we can be creative about seeking off-island
funding, ensuring that the District continue it's vital role as well as plan
for the next generations.
