  Vashon is extremely fortunate to have a locally directed and administered parks district. The latitude it gives us is the ability to conduct a wide variety of activities, from youth sports and Islewilde to the lighthouse at Pt. Robinson and summertime concerts. Having our own staff gives us the ability to seek grants and other funding sources from off island agencies. I will continue to support these activities and financial efforts while also seeking to maximize the benefit to Vashon through the relationship between Parks&Rec and Vashon Schools.

  Purchasing acreage on Vashon in the mid '70s was like buying into a Park and Recreation was working the land. By the end of the '70s we had decided this was home. We built our house and enrolled our children in school. Much has changed since then and the creation of the VMI Parks & Rec. Commission has been a progressive and positive step. The Commission has lain a good foundation that is enriching the present and producing a legacy for the future.

  Over the last 30 years I have served on numerous boards and committees. I have worked in both private and government sectors, lately in high-end Yacht and Construction Management. My skills in committee work, contract writing and interpretation, and the handling of large sums of money will make me a useful and valuable member of this Commission. I am committed to pro-active development and sound financial accountability.
