As an incumbent it is a delight to see the progress Burien has made. I pledge continued support to the Airport Communities Coalition (ACC). Two major road projects, parks projects, additional police officers and development of Burien's Town Square are just some of the issues I have championed. By supporting Discover Burien I have worked to develop new events in our Town Square to draw people for entertainment and shopping. Listening to residents is key to these successes.

I look forward to strengthening neighborhood Block Watch for emergency preparedness. An exciting issue is trying to mesh a good citywide storm-water plan with low-impact development and a bike/pedestrian link within Burien and regional connections. Dividing my time between working at Tyee High School and Council duties, I look forward to working on these issues and pledge to listen to you. I would be honored by your vote on November 4th.

Gordon Shaw is a 56 year resident who grew up next door to Highline High School. Having been part of the visioning process he sees Burien as a "friendly City with a small town atmosphere." He remembers Burien when it was THE small, friendly, can-do community in the region. He wants to see it become that again.

Gordon has a Bachelors degree in Business from the University of Washington with 28 years of management experience, 9 as the owner of his own company. He has the personnel, marketing, and budgeting skills the City needs. Was a charter member of the Burien Planning Commission for 7 years. He served on the Library Board for 7 years, two as president. He has received several commendations for service to the City from past Councils, including his service on the Planning Commission. He is currently semi-retired and will be a full-time Councilman, not part-time.
