COUNCIL POS. NO. 06, 4 YR TERM

Candidates:

Jack Block, Jr — Nonpartisan

As Burien grows, we face critical questions about the direction of our City. I will build on our progress, support the ACC in the fight to Defeat the third runway, and continue critical downtown redevelopment.

We must not waste this positive momentum. Let's not turn our city into a Southern California clone by diluting our zoning codes. I will protect business and make our city approachable and friendly to all.

As Chairman of the Burien Parks Board, I've seen many improvements to our fine park system, including: Skate Park construction, Branson Park acquisition, low cost summer day care, and the late night teen program.

I am proud to ask for your support for city council. I am endorsed by: Burien Firefighters, ILWU, Sierra Club, and Mayor Wing Woo. Let's protect our citizens and enhance our city.

  Vote for Block!

Safety and security is a top concern. I support enforcement of the law and the enhancement of safety and security in our neighborhoods. I also support expansion of our park system, particularly in underserved areas.

Improvements in the city have helped its appearance. Improvements must also be made to lessen regulation in Burien to be more business friendly and attract new business and jobs.

Town Square development is approaching. If undertaken, this project must be more than an attraction to Burien citizens. It must include elements that draw visitors from other cities and stimulate our tax base.

I'm a 1972 graduate of Evergeen High School with a BA in Business from WSU. My community activities include Board Member of the Burien Arts Association, Strawberry Festival volunteer and I've attended council meetings for several years. I'm a retired sales professional and I look forward to serving you on the council.
