Judge
Anne Ellington regards the opportunity to serve on the court as a great
privilege and a great responsibility. She believes courts must be responsive
and accessible, she believes in working hard, and she believes in respect and
fairness toward those who appear before her.
Judge
Ellington learned her values growing up in a large family. She graduated from
the UW Law School, clerked for the State Supreme Court, worked as an assistant
attorney general, and was a partner in a small Seattle law firm before her
election to Superior Court in 1984. She served for 10 years on our Superior
Court, and was the first woman elected as Presiding Judge. She has served since
1995 on the Court of Appeals.
Judge
Ellington receives excellent ratings ("exceptionally well qualified") and has
been named Outstanding Judge three times-by the King County Bar Association
(1994), by Washington Women Lawyers (1994) and by the Washington State Trial
Lawyers (1992). This year (2003) she received the President's Award from the
National Association of Women Lawyers.
Judge
Ellington brings experience, integrity, and a reputation as a fair, practical,
courageous, and intelligent judge. She is honored to serve this community.
