I have lived in Kent since 1996 and was part of the East Hill Annexation. I have eagerly watched the growth of our city. I am equally concerned about its future, especially during these challenging days. I believe that the keys to our city's future success are the same keys which apply to our own individual success. That is, our City government needs to manage and make decisions that are financially prudent and work to improve the quality of life for us, its citizens.

I have worked in the private sector for many years, and most recently for our city and will apply my experience in business process improvement towards making Kent a successful community.

Ted Nixon – Nonpartisan

I publicly opposed the Mayor's 26% pay raise this past January. This summer the City fired 31 dedicated and experienced workers, and the City Council raised our utility tax rates. The City Council recently down-zoned the property of a longtime Kent businessman. He lost $7 million in equity and the City lost $400 thousand in tax revenues!

The people of Kent want a healthy, prosperous and safe community. So do I.

The Salary Commission that raised the Mayoral salary should be eliminated. Zoning ordinances need to be revised to attract businesses and more jobs. Taxes and fees need to be reduced.

I am an architect, Navy veteran and small business owner. My family and I are active in our community. I'm President of Kent Kiwanis and Past President of the Kent Downtown Partnership.

If you elect me to Kent City Council I will work for the citizens of Kent.

"A Voice for Citizens," is your assurance that Ron Harmon will be representing your interest and making the best choices, for our city. Public safety, fiscal accountability, and bring jobs to Kent are his top priorities. Having owned his own business, and a manager of a large trucking company provides him the needed skills to be elected to the Kent City Council. Ron has lived in the area 25 years and 10 years in the city of Kent. He has served on the Land Use & Planning board since 1995, and has been chairman 3 different years. Ron also serves as a steering committee member for the Drinking Drivers Task Force. Chief Angelo appointed him to the 2001 Strategic Plan for the Kent Fire Department in 2000.

Ron will work to continue the positive direction of the City of Kent. Thank you.
