Growing up in a family that has lived in the Maple Valley area more than 100 years, I've witnessed tremendous change in our area, and I'd like to play a larger part in structuring its future. My wife and I are raising our children in the same safe and comfortable area we grew up in, among several friends, neighbors and relatives; important reasons why the future success of Maple Valley is so important to me.

As a member of Maple Valley Rotary, the Greater Maple Valley/Black Diamond Chamber of Commerce and the Maple Valley Business Golf League, I maintain an excellent feel for the wants and needs of our growing business community. I believe responsible growth in our commercial and residential areas is critical to our city's future, and I will bring a responsible, balanced and disciplined approach to our city council and the citizens of Maple Valley

I have lived in Maple Valley for 10 years and have watched our city grow. Since incorporation traffic has become a nightmare, taxes have increased at an alarming rate, and developments are being permitted without adequate infrastructure or mitigation. I have 30 years experience as a Contracting Officer with General Services Administration. I spend taxpayer dollars very carefully and daily deal with laws, statutes, and regulations. I am a Certified Mediation Practitioner used to working through conflict to mutual agreements. The City of Maple Valley incorporated to establish higher standards for our community than those designated by the county and state. It is time we started living up to our own Comprehensive Plan. I believe we need to work together with developers, citizens, and our neighbor cities to address the issues facing us in the 21st century.

A five year resident of Maple Valley, I currently serve on the City Council. My experience in government and community affairs includes: vice-chair of the Planning Commission, chairperson of the Citizens Advisory Committee to develop a Shoreline Master Program to preserve our lakes for current and future use, and president of the Lake Wilderness elementary school PTSA.

Maple Valley is poised to become a model city in South King County for livability. How we develop our parks, trails and transportation systems is key in creating a pedestrian friendly city. A more balanced revenue base from commercial enterprise is needed to pay for these improvements. I am committed to improving commercial opportunities that attract quality employers to create jobs and expand local shopping choices.

We have a warm and friendly city with an exciting future. I would be honored to continue to serve you on the Maple Valley City Council.
